THE McPASSION IN PRINT
The McPassion, has been included (PDF) in S. Brent Plate's (Assistant Professor of Religion and the Visual Arts at Texas Christian University) new work titled Blasphemy: Art That Offends. "[The book] takes a broad view of what is, and has historically been, perceived as controversial, idolatrous or obscene. This is a beautifully illustrated and timely consideration of art and its relationship to authority, censorship and public taste." The UK's Times Online reviewed Plate's book, and makes mention of The McPassion. You may also download a PDF of the article.

CONTEST WINNERS & NEW COMMENTS POSTED
Even as the clock was ticking down to the last few minutes before The McPassion would complete its 40 day and 40 night Internet run on Saturday the 15th, comments (both positive and negative) were still coming in – and of course we've posted them.
We've also sifted through the many contest entries we received and posted those we thought were the funniest. Those folks, as well as some unposted runner-ups, will receive a limited edition The McPassion DVD.

WE PULLED THE PLUG
We're sorry if you missed the film. But it was only available for a limited time on the Internet. Here's the deal: On March 1st, Ash Wednesday, The McPassion appeared. After 40 days and 40 nights (and upwards of 260,000 hits), on April 15, Holy Saturday, it disappeared at midnight (EST). The McPassion is available for film festivals and invitational screenings. The Screenings page has information about upcoming festival play dates. DVDs are available for press, entertainment industry, and other "chosen people."

BULL'S EYE OR BLASPHEMY?
It all depends on who you ask.
Swartzwelder and Hershleder have been under major fire since the release of the film.  Due in large part to an online article that appeared in Christianity Today Movies, this no-budget satirical short film ignited such intense online debates over issues related to the commercialization of religion that its creators have barely been able to keep up.  And with the Scripps Howard News Service and The Guardian Unlimited (UK) recently picking up the story as well, the heat is only intensifying.

THECHURCHWORKS.org TO THE RESCUE
We have a great web host (DotEasy.com) but, because we are streaming the film and getting so many visitors, the demand that www.TheMcPassion.com placed on their servers made a negative impact on the service they provide to some of their other web site customers. So, they had to put a clamp on us. Can you blame them?

The first person to answer our Internet S.O.S. was Jaxon at www.MilkAndCookies.com. He agreed to stream a copy of the movie until we secured a host for the remaining run of the film on the Internet. The next person to contact us about sponsoring our streaming was Tim Thompson of the Theology and Culture think tank The Church Works. A big THANK YOU goes out to Jaxon and Tim for keeping this film going until the end of Lent (April 15).
